Benefits of Invisalign

Invisalign has become the most requested form of orthodontics because it offers so many benefits over traditional braces. With Invisalign you enjoy:

  • Almost invisible straightening
  • The freedom to eat all foods
  • Not having to clean around brackets and wires
  • No poking by sharp wires and brackets
  • Faster and more reliable treatment than ever

Invisalign uses clear plastic aligners to straighten your teeth. These are almost invisible, and it’s likely no one will notice you’re wearing them.

These aligners are removable for eating and cleaning your teeth. This means you don’t have to give up any of your favorite foods. And you won’t have to go through the exhaustive routine of cleaning around your brackets and wires. Plus, smooth plastic aligners won’t poke you like metal wires and brackets.

Invisalign is a computer-controlled system, and it regularly receives data from completed cases. This helps it design more effective approaches to straightening all the time. This makes the procedure better, and that means it’s faster than ever, more people can get the treatment than ever, and the results are more reliably consistent than ever.

Yes. Invisalign is able to take on more complicated cases than ever. Not all dentists keep up with this trend, so asking an experienced Invisalign dentist could help.

No. There is no upper age limit on tooth straightening.

How Clear Aligners Work

Invisalign uses the same basic principles as traditional braces and other orthodontic approaches. Our bones might seem like they’re set, but they’re actually being remade constantly. Pressure can guide this process. With orthodontics, we put pressure on your teeth, and this makes your body remove bone from one side of the tooth and build it up on the other side, letting your tooth move.

Invisalign applies this pressure with clear plastic aligners instead of metal brackets and wires. During your exam, we use our iTero digital scanner to create a 3D model of your teeth. The computer analyzes the model, predicts what tooth movements need to happen, and breaks those movements down into a series of steps. Each step becomes an aligner. When you put on the aligner, it presses on your teeth until they move into the desired position. Then you put on the next aligner. In the past, you had to wear each aligner for two weeks, but new technology means that most people only have to wear each aligner for only one week, cutting treatment time in half!

When you finish the series of aligners, you’re done. You will have to wear a retainer for a while to make sure your teeth don’t drift back into place. Intermittent retainer wear helps you maintain your straight teeth for life.
